“For the paining series Love Lies Bleeding I take the beauty, the whimsicality, symmetry, bloom and decay of the flowers in my garden as a point of departure. I also play with the names of the plants (Love lies bleeding is the English name of Amaranthus Caudatus). After a first draft, often taken from reality, the colors and shapes of the paint go their way and leave me in amazement. And then I intervene.”
